Capsule Geology

Three stratigraphic assemblages have been mapped in the area: (1) Upper Palaeozoic sediments and volcanics of the Stikine Assemblage, (2) clastic sediments of the Triassic Stuhini Group, and (3) Lower Jurassic sediments and volcanics of the Hazelton Group.

Four plutonic suites intrude the above; (1) Late Triassic calc-alkaline intrusions coeval with Stuhini Group stratigraphy, (2) Jurassic Copper Mtn, (3) Jurassic Texas Creek and (4) Tertiary Coast Plutonic suite. Metallogenically , Texas Creek potassium feldspar megacrystic porphyries are of primary interest as they are spatially associated with a number of gold deposits and showings in the area.

The C2 zone mineralization occurs west of the Stonehouse Gold deposit (104B 107) along the east side of the Craig River within a prominently sheared contact zone. This pyritized sheared zone lies between the contact of a volcanic/sedimentary sequence in an area recently mapped as part of the Upper Paleozoic stratigraphy. The stratified rocks are intruded by intermediate to felsic stocks and plutons related to the Coast Plutonic Complex.

Alteration includes pyritization, silicification and carbonatization as well as k-feldspathization (refer to Stonehouse - 104B 107). The altered and deformed country rocks have undergone repeated deformation and alteration as recognized by the occurrence of epidote clasts within the biotite and sericite phyllonites.

Mineralization within the C2 zone consists mainly of pyrite with minor chalcopyrite, sphalerite and galena associated with a prominent shear. Assays from this area average about 3.4 grams per tonne gold. In 1984, a sample of pyritic mataerial taken from the sheared rock at location 83, assayed 4.8 grams per tonne gold, 50.06 grams per tonne silver, 0.7 per cent lead and 0.3 per cent zinc (Property File: Skyline Explorations Ltd., Reg Project, 1984 Promotional Brochure).

A 2005 Assessment Report (28103) sources a private company (Forbes, 1992) on the C2 showing stating that the showing contains approximately 100 metres of orange weathering felsite with related pyrite, sphalerite and galena bearing quartz breccia exposed in the creek bed of Dog Leg Creek. The breccia returned grades up to 4.3 grams per tonne gold, 45.4 grams per tonne silver with less than 1 per cent lead zinc across 15 centimeters (Assessment Report 28103).
